Greek Catholic Chapel in Kyiv to be Rebuilt

Kyiv - The chapel which stood next to the construction site of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) and was destroyed by fire on 19 November will be restored. The press service of the UGCC, citing Patriarch Lubomyr (Husar), head of the UGCC, reported this on 23 November 2005.

According to Patriarch Lubomyr, people felt the need for the existence of the chapel at once and several people have already expressed their will to financially and physically help in its restoration. The construction will begin right after the winter. “We are deeply grateful to those who understand the need to have a place of prayer and to those who are ready to help,” said the patriarch.

Before the construction of the new chapel is completed, Liturgies will be held in a temporary metal wagon adapted for this purpose.
