Lutsk – The working group of the Council of Churches in northwestern Ukrainian Volyn (VCC) met in the Volyn Regional Administration (VRA) building on 21 November 2005. According to Archpriest Vitalii Sobko, press secretary of the Volyn Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP), among the issues the group discussed were the participation of churches in events perpetuating the memory of victims of political repressions and starvation in Ukraine and the celebration of the first anniversary of Ukraine’s Orange Revolution.
After all proposals were considered, the members of the work group noted that in the nearest future the VCC will work on a Christmas charity project, solve the problems connected with the celebration of Sundays by Christians living in the Volyn region, and develop cooperation between Volyn religious organizations and the local authorities.
