Moscow – Patriarch Alexis II, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, congratulated Metropolitan Ahafanhel (Savvin) of Odesa and Izmail of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate on his 30th anniversary as a bishop and awarded him the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov. RISU’s Ukrainian-language site posted the news on 22 November 2005.
