Ukrainian Elected Bishop for Constantinople Patriarchate

Constantinopole— Ihumen (Abbot) Andrij Peshko on 22 November 2005 was elected unanimously by the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople as bishop of Krateia. He will serve as assistant to Metropolitan Constantine (Kostiantyn Bahan), head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA and of the Ukrainian parishes belonging to the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Bishop-elect Andrij was born in Ukraine and is now serving as a priest in Chicago, USA.

Bishop-elect Andrij will be consecrated in Chicago on 13 December, the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle, and will now be based in London and serve in Europe.
