Kyiv— On 25 June 2008, the opening ceremony of the 7th International Congress of Ukrainian Studies was held at the Ukrainian House in Kyiv. Bishop Yevstratii (Zoria) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Kyivan Patriarchate heartily greeted the participants and passed on a blessing from Patriarch Filaret.
According to uaorthodox.info, the congress also received greeting letters from Ukrainian president Victor Yushchenko, prime-minister Yulia Timoshenko, the president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Borys Paton, and various Ukrainian Studies experts and scholars from within the Diaspora.
