Crimean Police Want Help in Guarding CemeteriesSimferopol— The Crimean police sent to town and district administrations of the autonomous republic official letters about the need to allocate funds to organize civil guarding of Muslim cemeteries and to cooperate with the local police in order to prevent possible provocations on the eve of 18 May, the Day in Memory of Crimean Tatar Deportation Victims. This was in connection with the recently-issued order of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Crimea to organize protection of all the Muslim cemeteries of the peninsula following acts of vandalism in Simferopol. crimea.unian.net posted this story on 16 April 2008.
