UAOC Autocephalous Orthodox Call upon Lviv Country Brotherhood of St. Andrew the First-Called Apostle for “Christian Moderation and Meekness”

26.12.2007, [11:16] // Orthodox //

Kyiv – On 21 December 2007, in response to the decree of the Lviv Country Brotherhood of St. Andrew the First-Called Apostle, dated 15 December 2007, the Patriarchy of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC) issued an address which notes that “following the norms of the canon law, laity has no power to direct official statements to the National Sobor (Assembly); however, it can attend the National Sobor as delegates.” The UAOC called upon the members of the Brotherhood “to coordinate all steps with their Head and the Patriarchy.”

According to uaoc.net, the text of the address also says that “the last Hierarchal Sobor of the UAOC exhaustively outlined future stages of internal and external policy of the UAOC in the development of church life.” The address underlines that the UAOC “highly values the enthusiasm and passion for the church” of the Brotherhood’s members; however, it calls upon them to practice “Christian moderation and meekness, without which no Christian community can grow.”
