Uzhhorod – The wooden churches in southwestern Ukraine’s Transcarpathia Region require urgent repair. In the last 100 years, out of 800 churches only 114 are left. Arts scholars say that in a few years there won’t be anything to save if the government and society take no action. All 114 ancient churches in the region need restoration. Every year the region loses an average of one wooden church. zakarpattya.net.ua posted the news on 20 June 2007.
