Svaliava – Back in November 2001, the superior of the monastery in Svaliava, in southwestern Ukraine’s Transcarpathia region, agreed that a 48-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region would help acquire a one-ton bell for the monastery. With that aim, the man was given 22,250,000 hryvnias (approximately $ US 4 million) and disappeared. ua-reporter.com posted the news on 3 May 2006.
