Lviv– A historic building of Lviv, the Palace of Armenian Archbishops, constructed in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, was recently privatized. The chief rabbi made the trip at the invitation of Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, a Lubavitch Chabad emissary who serves as the chief rabbi of Zhytomyr and central and western Ukraine. Father Pavlo is an ardent patriot of his church and his people. I imagine that during that year the young Josef Ratzinger must have heard a lot about Ukraine and its church life,” said the cardinal. Moscow—The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church has approved the canonization of Bishop Parfenii (Brianskikh) of Ananiiv (1881 to 22 November 1937), vicar of southern Ukraine’s Odesa region, among the new martyrs and confessors of the 20th century. The decision was made at the synod’s first meeting this year, headed by Patriarch Alexis II. The news was posted on 20 April 2005 by pravoslavye.org.ua.
