Edmund Ratz

Hilmar Wilhelm Edmund Ratz is the bishop of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ukraine.

He was born on 4 April 1933 in the town of Zeitlofs (Germany).

He received his theological education in several universities in Germany and the USA. He has a doctoral degree in theology from two institutions.

He worked as a pastor in Germany and Great Britain, headed the Lutheran Council of Great Britain, and held high positions in the Lutheran Church of Germany.

He began his activity in Ukraine as an episcopal visitator, and since September 2000 he has been the bishop of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ukraine.
